100% of our staff in Aktau are Kazakhstan citizens, and we’re committed to using local subcontractors in all our drilling operations. Jupiter Energy is proud to support the local community in Kazakhstan, specifically in areas such as employment, training, and social programs. Today, we’ve invested over $1.8 million in local community programs, with over $60,000 invested in 2024.
Local staff at Jupiter receive over 2,100 hours of professional development annually, ensuring they are well prepared to grow in their respective roles. Our company is regularly audited by the Ministry of Energy against these standards, and we are proud to have consistently met and exceeded our targets.
In collaboration with the Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy, Jupiter Energy developed an innovative gas utilisation solution that supports sustainability goals while achieving full commercial production.
Kazakhstan has embedded the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its national energy policy, focusing on improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and increasing the use of lower-carbon technologies over time.
Within this policy framework, Jupiter Energy has worked closely with the Kazakh Ministry of Energy and its neighbouring producer, MangistauMunaiGas (MMG), to address a critical operational and environmental challenge common to oil producers: the responsible capture and utilisation of associated gas generated during oil production.
Funding the expensive infrastructure required for associated gas handling posed a restriction on monetising oil discoveries and scaling production. Jupiter Energy, despite being cash flow positive, required an innovative solution to meet Kazakhstan’s 100% gas utilisation requirement while building a standalone gas utilisation facility to reach its long-term production outlook of ~4,500 barrels of oil per day.
Jupiter Energy collaborated with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, leveraging our close proximity to MMG’s existing infrastructure. Our company constructed pipelines to connect our wells to MMG’s system and installed a gas metering unit, while MMG managed the processing and utilisation of the gas. Any surplus gas not required by MMG was transported to a nearby refinery, benefiting local communities with an additional energy supply.
The project was scoped, approved, and overseen by the Ministry of Energy, with gas transportation and sales from the Akkar North (East Block) and Akkar East oilfields commencing in November 2024. The integration of the West Zhetybai oilfield was completed in December 2025.
The initiative now serves as a blueprint for smaller oil producers, with Jupiter Energy’s collaboration with the Ministry of Energy proving to be a key reason we have succeeded in reaching full commercial production where many others have struggled. The initiative is also one of the first in Kazakhstan to demonstrate how producers of different scales can work together under government guidance to achieve 100% gas utilisation.
Jupiter Energy is proud to have engaged in an initiative that benefited private operators, the national oil industry, and local communities, while strengthening Kazakhstan’s progress toward carbon neutrality.
